President's Message 2010

I’d like to begin by thanking all of our volunteers without whose efforts this league would not be possible.  Your countless hours of effort and leadership by example will continue to make Carlsbad Softball Association (CSA) one of the best fast-pitch softball leagues in the State.   I am lucky to have such a dedicated and energetic group of volunteers to run this league.  I will always be indebted to the 2010 CSA Board for their hard work and dedication to the girls.

As we look forward to the 2010 spring season I want to be clear that we are all in this together.  Each and every individual associated with the league will have an impact on our girl’s experience.  We all enter the new season with high expectations.  For the Parent, it is to watch their child interact with their peers while getting a fair opportunity to participate.  For the Managers and Coaches, it is to teach the fundamentals of the game and prepare each individual team member to compete successfully.  The fan wants to see a good game.  However, we must not forget that the most important expectations are those of our Daughters – the players.  The players are who we are here to serve and their expectation is to HAVE FUN, MAKE FRIENDS, and become a better softball player.  Years from now our girls won’t remember what their record was in 2010, but they will remember that they played softball and the people who were responsible for making that a great experience.  The game of softball provides us with a tremendous opportunity to teach our daughters to not give up, how to win, how to lose, how to play fair, how to handle pressure and a whole slew of other skills they will need later in life.

The past couple of years have been difficult for us all due to the economy and high unemployment rates here in Southern CA.  Despite these economic challenges CSA has continued to thrive.  As a community we have proven that we can deal with adversity.  Any given Saturday in spring you can see first hand the resiliency and strength of our community by heading up to Calavera Hills and watching our girls play ball.  I am honored to be part of such an optimistic and strong community.   The coming season will present new challenges and opportunities for all of us at CSA.  There is much to do, so much help needed.  It’s a new decade!  It’s time to dust ourselves off, step back up to the plate, and come through for the team.

Sincerely,
Brad Johnson
