Why play in spring?

The CSA spring season is always an exciting time to play softball among close friends. It's our most popular season and a great opportunity for players to continue to build on their skills and experience.  While there is significant focus on fundamental skills, the season remains competitively fun with intra-league games playing other teams involved in the league.

Who is eligible?

We offer all ages from 6 and under, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U.

Division Birth Year

Your daughter's division of play is determined by birth years as follows:

  • 6U: 2014 - 2015
  • 8U: 2012 - 2013
  • 10U: 2010 - 2011
  • 12U: 2008 - 2009
  • 15U: 2005 - 2007
For the Spring 2021 season only, the 14U Division is now 15U!

New from USA Softball SoCal, girls born in 2005 are eligible to play in 15U, giving more girls an opportunity to play. Please note that this applies to the Spring recreational season ONLY and not to All-Stars, which will revert back to 14U, with 2006 and 2007 birthdates only.

What is the cost?

Division 6U 8U 10U/12U/14U
Early $80 $125 $150
Regular $90 $135 $160
Late $100 $145 $170
  +$5 Non-Resident Fee +$5 Non-Resident Fee +$5 Non-Resident Fee

There is also a $10.00 sibling discount if you have more than 1 child registering for the season.  The cost includes a team jersey, softball pants, and socks as well as umpire fees, and practice field lights.

Refunds & COVID-19

CSA follows the safety guidelines for youth sports mandated by the State of California, San Diego County, and the City of Carlsbad. Changes to current guidelines in response to COVID-19 spread/outbreaks may occur.

With current State and County guidelines, we are planning to start the Spring season as we have been running our “Girls of Summer” and Fall Ball programs. Groups of up to fourteen girls will be placed on teams for practice and 7-on-7 scrimmaging. If we are given the green-light for competitive team play, the Spring Program will shift to include inter-league and/or intra-league games.

If state/county/city guidelines require more strict conditions, such as the institution of a stay-at-home order, and softball practices are unable to occur, CSA will consider prorated refunds for Spring registration fees based on incurred expenses (such as uniforms, umpire fees, lights, etc.) and the length of time we were able to have practices and/or games.

When are Games?

CSA hosts spring games on Saturday mornings through late afternoon, depending on age division.

Where are they?

Practices and most games are at Calavera Hills Community Park. Games are usually played against other Carlsbad teams.

If safety guidelines from the state, county, and city allow, we will begin playing Saturday games in February. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the spread of COVID-19 this year, Saturday games may be an optional practice instead of a game against another team.

Are there clinics offered?

Each year during the spring season, CSA provides special clinics for players to attend at little or no extra cost.

Is there a Tournament?

At the end of the spring season, CSA hosts a fun playoff tournament within most age divisions. The tournament is held at the end of April.

When does the spring season start?

This season's CSA Opening day is expected to be held on February 6th, 2021 , with practices for your daughter's team starting the week of January 19th.

Volunteer Information

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS AND CHECK DEPOSIT POLICY

Parents are required to fill two 2-hour volunteer shifts for each child registered in the league. The shifts may be completed in the snack bar or during field preparation. An online volunteer schedule will be posted prior to the start of the season to allow parents to sign up for shifts.

A volunteer deposit check of $300 will be collected from you by your team parent. If your two shifts are not completed by a responsible adult as scheduled, your deposit check will be cashed. After volunteer shifts are completed, your check will be shredded or returned to you per your request.

In the event that volunteer shifts are not made available during the Spring season (i.e. we cannot open the snack bar), your check will be shredded or returned to you per your request.
