| USA SOFTBALL REGISTRATION |
WHO
- USA Softball Registration is REQUIRED for any volunteers working directly with CSA players on the field or in the dugout - Managers, Coaches, and Team Parents.
- USA Softball registration is NOT required to complete your required seasonal volunteer shifts (i.e. snack bar, spirtwear sales, field prep).
- USA Softball registration is NOT required for Team Parents serving in a purely administrative role.
WHEN
- A new registration is required on a yearly basis (September 1st - August 31st).
- The timeline for each season will be communicated to your Manager and Team Parent.
- Please DO NOT do your USA Softball Registration on your own. You MUST be registered with CSA, which can only be done by our Registrar. If you register on your own, although your background check and SafeSport will transfer, you will have to pay a duplicate registration fee.
WHAT
- Both a background check and successful completion of SafeSport training are required for USA Softball Registration.
- SafeSport training will take approximately 1.25 hours for the initial training and then approximately 30 minutes for yearly refreshers thereafter.
- IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO COMPLETE SAFE SPORT TRAINING, YOU WILL NOT COMPLETE THE REQUIRED USA SOFTBALL REGISTRATION.
COST
- The fee is $28 and is payable by check to CSA.
- Checks will be collected by your Manager or Team Parent and submitted to the Registrar.
- CSA pays the fee for each Manager as well as one assistant Coach per team, at the discretion of the Manager.
NOTE
- You MUST have a Social Security Number to submit to the background check. (This is new for 2021-2022!)
- Without a Social Security Number, you cannot be background checked and will not be cleared to work directly with CSA players on the field or in the dugout.

NEW PROCESS FOR 2022-23 TO SUBMIT YOUR INFORMATION TO CSA!
STEP 1
SUBMIT your information to your Manager, Team Parent, or other designated team representative by the due date provided for your background check via the CSA USA Softball Registration Request form (fillable PDF below). The CSA Registrar then uses the information provided in this form to submit your USA Softball registration to USAS. (This form is quick and easy!)
Please note that you MUST provide an email address that you check regularly!
STEP 2
PROVIDE A CHECK (if required) for $28 payable to CSA to your Manager, Team Parent, or other designated team representative by the due date provided.
STEP 3
After the Registrar submits your registration to USA Softball, you will receive an email from USA Softball. You will then CONSENT to your background check. FOLLOW THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE BELOW!! This will avoid errors and issues.
THIS IS VERY QUICK. Do not make our volunteers have to contact you multiple times to get it done.
You will only have THREE days (72 hours) to electronically consent to your background check with USA Softball once contacted via email or your registration may be cancelled.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is an independent nonprofit committed to building a sport community where participants can work and learn together free of emotional, physical and sexual abuse and misconduct. SafeSport Training is free to you.
STEP 4
COMPLETE SAFESPORT TRAINING. After you have logged into your USA Softball account to approve your background check and verify your account, you will be able to complete your SafeSport Training.
FOLLOW THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE BELOW!! This will avoid issues and errors.
SafeSport Training or Refreshers completed before 9/1/2022 will NOT carry over for 2022-2023 USA Softball Registration. EVERYONE must complete a new SafeSport Training or Refresher as required.
You will only have 7 days to complete your SafeSport Training once contacted via email or your USA Softball Registration may be cancelled.

STEP 5
YOUR SAFESPORT TRAINING COMPLETING MUST REPORT TO YOUR USA SOFTBALL ACCOUNT or your registration will not be considered complete!
PLEASE follow the instructions to sync your SafeSport Training completion with your USA Softball account - starting on page 12 of the guide!
If you are unable to sync your SafeSport training completion with your USA Softball account per the instructions in the guide, email your SafeSport certificate of completion to SafeSport1@usasoftball.com per the instructions provided in the guide under FAQ and copy our CSA Registrar at registrar@carlsbadsoftball.org.
If you have completed SafeSport training for another sport since 9/1/2022 (i.e. soccer in the fall), you do not need to complete additional training. Please attempt to sync your account per the instructions provided in the guide. If you are unable to sync your SafeSport training completion with your USA Softball account per the attached instructions, email your SafeSport certificate of completion to SafeSport1@usasoftball.com and copy our CSA Registrar at registrar@carlsbadsoftball.org.
